Notes after a little organizing around the house at 3 AM with Benson the duck 🦆
There's a glowing duck that we named Benson staring at my keyboard while I gather my thoughts after waking up at 3 AM, doing the dishes, and sorting stuff out in the kitchen.
Is this what they call being an adult?
I'm in deep thought about external spaces. Now that whimsy is kind of the core tenet of our household, I wanted to embody it externally but couple it very hard with function.
I also just got my standing desk, so here I am, at 4 AM a wee bit too excited to try it out.

We're currently barely utilizing most of the upper third of the house. Pretty much every side and corner that's fillable has been filled with either storage or furniture, and our house is pretty small for anything in the middle—so we're making that space for pure organic movements.
The houseplants (we only have two) are also not in their best shape, and are probably off to the compost at some point. Our onions, mint, and cilantro are doing fine outside though.
What we need are mostly storage solutions for our frequently used items like caps, rackets (not yet too frequently used but will be), and tote bags. We actually have big-ass fins hanging on our door from our pre-parenthood freediving era, which is definitely not a frequent-use item anymore.
So maybe we need those hookey-thingy organizers? Or pegboards?
I heard from my boss that these worked wonders for their small home.

And last but not least, some storage for Kai's toys.
Right now the storage solution seems to be the box the toys came with lol.
Our goal is to make it so that any toy that doesn't fit in the box gets donated or something like that. 🦆📦
