Looking for that post-sleep clarity (and maybe some mana)

We all know what a good rest feels like. clarity That post-sleep clarity 👀. The energy. The focus.

What if we could harness that feeling without actually resting?

I've been thinking about non-sleep deep rest (NSDR)—but not just as a relaxation technique. I'm wondering if it's possible to master some kind of NSDR where your body enters a regenerative state while you still get plenty of light work done.

Or maybe there's a way to source rest as if it was an energy source of some sort.

Meditatively, I've always soaked in the sun's glow, pondered on what type of energy the core of the Milky Way holds and whether I can harness it. Cosmic stuff. But also practical: if we understand what rest is, maybe we can find a shortcut to it.

Let me break this down into two parts: relaxation and the boost.

Relaxation seems to be the gateway—the feeling that holds the key to "getting there." It's the state your body enters that allows restoration to happen.

Then there's the boost itself. The energy and focus that comes after resting. Let's call it what it is in gaming terms: a buff.

So, how do we get that buff?

In-game, you'd need the help of a priest, paladin, or some other healing type, along with potions and elixirs. But let's skip the potion route for now. We're not trying to chemically hack our way there.

What I'm really asking is: can we access the buffed state—that focus and energy—without going through the full rest cycle?

I can't imagine any method that doesn't involve some form of trance or meditation. At least initially. Maybe after enough practice, you could just jump directly to that state.

But using what? Mana? Does that even exist in this reality?

Maybe? 🤔

I should look into that.
